Unintended Masterpieces
The shoe box of family photos under the bed can contain unintended masterpieces, partly because they were made with no artistic intent. And sometimes artistic intentions go awry, resulting in a photo that is memorable for the wrong reason.

A Birthday Party
Looking through old family photos for my mother's electronic photo frame, I found an uncut roll of processsed Ilford HP3 film which contained several un-printed gems, such as these two of my sister's 5th birthday. This is what prompted Unintended Masterpieces: most families must have at least one good photo worth sharing.

Summer Holidays, West Auckland

The Television Age
I must thank Elsie-May for allowing me to use photos by her and her uncle, Douglas Taylor, to get this blog started.

Disaster
Most bad photos are only mediocre - to achieve true awfulness harder than you'd think.
Seeing this is my blog, I thought it appropriate to start with one of my own photos. This is my photo that most spectacularly went wrong. Fortunately, it crossed the line into farce (which almost lets me off the hook). I'm glad the self-timer fired too soon and rescued this photo from mediocrity.
